During the spring/summer season you'll find a variety of denim dresses. I often get comments from people about how they don't know how to style a denim dress or if it will suit them. Some are tight, short or even long, so it's normal to feel overwhelmed by the options and which one to choose.
The denim shirt dress (as worn in this post) is probably by far the most popular. Just consider the shirt dress a long version of a jean shirt. I tend to go with a more slouchy or loose option, but you can easily find tighter styles as well. I love pairing this dress with booties but pumps would be equally great! What I think is the best way to wear a shirt dress is with heels and bare legs. I feel slimmer and it's a great way to style a casual dress and make it chic. What's also great about this style, you can wear it during the cooler months with leggings. You can add a little cross body bag, clutch or tote to this outfit. It amazing how accessories can complete this style, so don't be afraid to add some jewelry!
Here are some other great denim dress styles and tips to wearing them!
Denim Button Front Dress: Similar to the shirt dress, just with buttons. I like to keep this style casual. Some cute flats, like oxfords would be perfect and add a cute cross-body bag. The perfect preppy look! You can wear heels if you want, bur stick with wedge or ankle boots to still maintain that casual feel.
Denim Pinafore Dress: This one is super cute and has a retro feel to it. I styled this option here. I find this style gives a youthful, feminine option. Wear it with a cute tee, shirt or sweater. I say have fun with it and make your style speak for itself.
Denim Bodo Shift Dress: One I've never styled before but will have to style one day. This has a more 70s feel to it with a tunic fit. In the warmer months, this would look great with wedges. In the cooler months, knee high boots. You can easily style this with a great pair of skinny or flared jeans for an easy all denim look!
